Thanksgiving Holiday Blues 2009

I am here to share a little story about my Thanksgiving meals.

When i was growing up as a child my grandmother always had dinner at her home for the entire family members in our family pool.

My Granny would cook all day , night for the big holiday of Thanksgiving for many family members. My family members would come drive long distance just to share this family meal on this special day called thanksgiving.

I will admit when i was a child i did not know too much about the thanksgiving holiday at all. I only learned that when i became older what that day really meant to many people around the world.

I myself , and my younger cousin's always thought of it as eating all the sweet cakes , pies you wanted until you pass out from being greedy !

This to us children was the only day when you could go back , and fourth in the kitchen or table , and grab cakes and pies , cider all day long without anyone getting on you about running in, and out of the house.

See i was raised up with many rules as a child. But on that day i would lose my mind along with my cousins . We ate , and we ate much at we could .

My eyes was big as apples on a tree on that thanksgiving day. But that was then, and now that my grandmother is no longer living in this world. I truly miss them days very much.

Since her death many years ago. My holidays have never been the same as a child or a young adult in the world. Also most of my family have moved away , and the family thing is no more now for any of us we still live in the same area.

We did try many years ago to start a family dinner thing up' but that did not work out to good. We ended up with 5 or less people showing up to eat. So i believe most of us out here who grew up with family thanksgiving might be going through the same thing or not having this event in our lives anymore.

I wanted to share my happy times with my family on thanksgiving with my grandmother. My mom who cook also a lot after my grandmother past away. But it was always just the 5 of us , and the demon who we hated with passion at that time.

The dinner would always turn out to be a knock down drag out event in the end. So now a days since i been a grown adult i do not celebrate Thanksgiving at all anymore. My spouse never like the holidays with his family from what he has told me . We use to go to a few of his family events. Until he said he really did not enjoy being around them folks at all. So we just order out , and stay in just the two of us .

Things are good this way for the two of us. But i do sometimes miss the big crowds , and the different types of foods that do show up at some of the family thanksgiving dinners.

Maybe one day soon i will find a nice thanksgiving family to have a good happy thanksgiving meal again before i leave this earth.
